Project Kids in the Clouds
The action – initiative of British Airways volunteers and partner companies – aims to realize the dream of 280 children with disabilities and who have never had the chance to fly.
The trip, which had its first edition in 2011, was conducted aboard the Boeing 747-400 that currently does the route São Paulo-London daily by British Airways. The aircraft performed a scenic flight over the city of Rio de Janeiro on a saturday morning.
The children, selected among ONGs as Casa Ronald ABC, Casa Hope, Cafu Foundation, Afinando o Futuro com Arte e Lar do Caminho, attended a real party in his honor. Both the waiting time on the ground as the flight part were animated by volunteer artists and accompanied by the crew of British Airways, that after boarding with their traditional blue uniforms surprised the children with costumes and props.
The "kids in the clouds, coordinated by flight attendant Mr Fernando Goldberg, is only possible with the collaboration of company employees – that working as volunteers on this day – and partner companies who believed in the project and embarked with us on this idea with donations of extreme importance, as fuel, boarding rates, gifts for participants, transportation, among other" claims the crew manager for Latin America from British Airways, Renata Caruso Lorenzo.
